The Lodge is very comfortable and has friendly owners and staff, a wonderful setting and fantastic food. But what really sets it apart from many I have stayed at is the Fair Trade in Tourism approach they have adopted, where not only staff are benefiting but surrounding communities are being included and uplifted through their craft shop and gallery. They work with around 25 local artists to produce high quality local art and crafts. Local communities also benefit through the tours the Lodge offers to their villages, where they share their way of life. Unlike some other 'cultural tourism' outfits, Madi a Thava's efforts have a feeling of authenticity and genuine community buy-in.

Mountains, nature, bush and no city sounds, relaxing
The breakfast can improve, baboons and monkeys can be a problem

The attitude of staff and management is excellent and friendly. The location in a valley overlooking mountains serene and brings one close to nature. The decor is excellent and reflects the local Venda culture using materials produced by locals

Tranquility. Excellent for sleep over during a long trip like mine. Gps coordinates are very helpful and effective. It was easy to reach. The people are very warm and hospitable. What a pleasure!
